San Diego Rescue Mission

Serving all over San Diego County, this Christ-focused organization helps restore the lives of people experiencing homelessness, abuse, poverty, or addiction through faith-based emergency services, residential rehabilitation programs, children’s services, hunger relief efforts, and community outreach.

Oceanside Navigation Center (Local opportunity).
The Rescue Mission also opened up a new Navigation Center in Oceanside.

Volunteer opportunities at either location include serving meals, distributing food, and organizing clothes/donations.

Solutions for Change

Solutions for Change: 722 W California Ave. Vista, CA
Solutions for Change is a program that equips families with the skills, knowledge and resources to permanently solve family homelessness. This is an opportunity to provide and serve dinner for new families in the Healing and Retreat Center.

Feeding San Diego

Feeding San Diego strives to connect every person facing hunger in San Diego with healthy food. With an ambitious goal of ending hunger in San Diego County through food rescue, they rely on those willing to donate their time to the cause. Volunteer opportunities include sorting and packing produce for a family in need, supporting food distributions, making personalized phone calls to thank generous donors, and more.

San Diego (North County) Food Bank

San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. This organization feeds hundreds of thousands of San Diegans facing food insecurity including low-income families, seniors living on a fixed income and children living in poverty. HUGE need since Covid and inflation.

Women’s Resource Center

WRC is dedicated to providing the highest quality supportive services, counseling, shelter and education to North San Diego County women, children and men involved in or threatened by domestic violence or sexual assault. Volunteer opportunities include mentoring children, hotline volunteer, shelter/thrift store volunteers, and special event volunteers.

Brother Beno’s

The goals of the Brother Beno’s Foundation are to see that no one in our area goes hungry, no one goes without shelter or clothing, and most importantly, no one goes without someone to care for him or her. They also strive to help their guests attain self-sufficiency. Soup Kitchen and Thrift Store volunteer opportunities available.

TERI Campus of Life

TERI (Training, Education, and Resource Institute). TERI’s goal to improve the quality of life for children and adults with special needs, and to change the way the world sees them, allowing for inclusion within the community. Volunteer opportunities are available in the retail shop, gardening, fitness activities, schools, and administrative.

Homework Helpers via North County Lifeline

Club Crown Heights afterschool programs give neighborhood kids (who don’t have after school care) a safe place after school to complete their homework, build leadership skills, and plan for successful futures. This afterschool programming depends on the support of volunteers who apply their time and talents to the tutoring program, STEM educational activities, reading groups, and more.

La Posada Men’s Homeless Shelter

2478 Impala Drive Carlsbad, CA
La Posada Interim Housing Program is a 24/7 men’s short and long term housing program for homeless men and employed farm workers. This program provides a safe, supportive, sober environment and opportunities for men with few or no resources to gather, begin and continue self-help efforts. This is part of the Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego. Volunteer opportunities include food distribution and admin help.
